The Plaintiff is the Acting Assistant District Land

officer of the Southern District of the New Terri to ries,

He is a B.A. of Cambridge and a Cadet of the Hong Kong

Government having passed into it through the Civil Service

Examination. He arrived here on the 21st December 1911 aud

as the disturbed state of Cantou rendered it in advisable for

Cadets to proceed there to study Chinese ne studied China se

for a year and three months at Taipo and then went for a year

to Canton expiring in February 1914 when he took up a position

as Acting Secretary of the Sanitary Board during the secretary's

absence.
